Greenhaven Woodland Burial Ground

Do I need to use a funeral director?

No, everything can be organised by family and friends with or without the help of Greenhaven. If you prefer we can see to everything, from collection right the way through to interment here at Greenhaven.

What happens when the site is full?

We have arranged for ownership of the land to be passed to a wildlife trust so that the area can be kept as a nature sanctuary in perpetuity.

Which type of coffin should I choose?

Cardboard coffins are most popular, but solid pine coffins are available as are wicker baskets, shrouds etc. You can choose whatever you like as long as it is biodegradable and it is not constructed from chipboard which contains poisonous chemicals.

Do you have any religious restrictions?

People from any religion are welcome to use our site as are those without any religious faith.

Can I use my estate car as a hearse?

Yes. Alternatively an estate car and driver can be supplied by Greenhaven.

Do you have any pre-payment plans?

Only for the advance reservation of burial plots.

Can I be cremated and still come to Greenhaven?

Yes, we do accept ashes but we do not encourage it as the practice of cremation causes atmospheric pollution and wastes precious hardwood resources.
